Backup disk not available error even when it is connected in Mountain Lion

Upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion in my Macbook Pro but am just using the same Time Machine backup in it where I am finding some issues now. The backup drive is already connected to my macbook pro but still it gives the error as "Backup drive not available". What might me the reason behind it? Can someone please justify the answer? Thanks.
