Can I use the same USB drive to backup two separate devices?

After working for long, finally I have convinced my father to purchase a MacBook Air for him and I use MBP from last few months. I already have a external HDD having 320 GB space. I want to use this drive for Time Machine backups. Is there anyone who can tell me whether I can use the same HDD for storing the backup of these two different computers?

If you have enough space, partitions can be used easily with Time Machine.
I back up two different laptops to one external drive by having each laptop have its own partition on the external disk.

    Dear Friend..

I don't think that whether you required any other hard disk driver for restoring the backup data of two devices.

First you must understand that a hard disk have the capacity to restore any kind of data whether it is related to music or video or it is a Backup data.
It doesn't matter that the backup data is being restoring from two different devices due to which it HDD says not.

It simply require two different name or different folders in which your data must be there and then you can restore them to your common hard disk,

When you restore the Backup data in a common Hard disk, then simply connect your HDD with your device and send the backup data safely without any issue.

Hope you get it, how to make this possible.
    Thank you..

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say..................

1.In your USB drive make a two partitions.

2.Then you backup the both devices in both the partitions.

3.But the main problem is with the space.

4.You need to have lot's of space in your USB drive to backup both devices.

5.And make sure that both are in separate partitions.

I hope by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    All the best..................
