How to create a Bootable Clone of MacBook Pro on an External Drive?

My school has a 1-to-1 MacBook policy, but requires that all computers be re imaged to fit the school's configurations for printing etc. This is ok for students who buy the MacBook from the school but I've been using my MacBook Pro before I enrolled and don't want all of my files to disappear during the re image process. Is there a free tool that I can use to create a bootable clone of my MacBook pro on an external drive(preferably a USB thum drive)?

You can clone your OS X partition to a larger drive before switching them using a external drive or using a IDE/SATA to USB adapter cable for a removed internal drive.

    Dear Friend..

If you want to create a clone of your MacBook Pro preferably in USB, then there is no need to worry.
You need to download a software called:-

    A Bootable USB

    http://fileforum.betanews.com/downlo...B/1264037297/1

You need to install this software either in your Mac or in USB for making it Bootable.
The good thing about this software is that can also be used in external hard drive also as you ask in your question.

    Hope this works for you,
    Thank you..
