Snow Leopard and 10.6.8 are same. I don't know whether you have noticed or not but "OS X" means OS 10 because X in Roman numeral stands for 10. Snow Leopard is the 6th version of OS X which means 10.6.8. Here 8 in the last means the 8th version.
As you informed us earlier, you are running version 10.5.8 which means you are using 5th version of Leopard or OS X. If you want to upgrade it to Snow Leopard then you will have to buy its disc because it is now not available in App store. You can buy it through Amazon.Using the purchased disc, you would be able to upgrade your OS X version from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8.

    Hi,
Installing is simple process compared to all process. But you need to take some procedure in installing process otherwise you will get installation error.
First of all download the snow leopard on mac,
After downloading double tap on the download file and wait until the installation process.
While installing accept the terms and conditions,
Finally a new windows will open with finish option,So,tap this.
Restart the system after installing file.

    Dear Friend..

Without having the mac OS disc, you can't update any OS.
As you said that you are getting a blog on internet which instruct you to install snow leopard, it means, it is not the original Snow Leopard OS.

It is just a sample update which gives you a look of Snow Leopard but not the exact OS.
This update consist themes, background and few features of the latest OS which are external not internal.
These kinds of update always shows in many or all kinds of OS whether it is Windows XP or 7.

So, if you want to have slight look of this Snow Leopard OS, then you can install this OS which might increase the performance of your OS but it will not upgrade your OS.
So buy a disc or mac Snow Leopard OS, and then upgrade or install the latest version.

Hope you are very much clear now,
    Thank you..
