iMessage application not syncing up with iCloud contacts in Macbook Pro

My Macbook Pro runs with Mountain Lion and now I am able to get the message notification from iMessage application but the issue is that it shows up the contact number but not the name..I thought it will sync up with iCloud contacts to show but why that's not happening? What should I do to make it work that way?

I had this same issue and could not find an answer on the web. I discovered a "fix" on my own tonight. On your Mac, go to System Preferences -->iCloud. When in iCloud, deselect contacts. A prompt will ask you if you are sure you want to delete contacts on Mac, select yes. After, reselect the contact tab and after a few seconds, the contact's name that you have in your iPhone will also now be synced with your iMessage on the Mac. This solution was so very simple; I can't believe it isn't on Apple's Support pages. I hope this works for you as it did me.

WORKED! Had to do it a couple of times however... and I noticed that I have a separate account for iCloud than i do for iTunes (this is so my spouse can share apps and stuff without our contacts merging), so make sure your iCloud's are the same if you have different iTunes accounts, that's still OK. Just make sure your iCloud accounts are the same on both devices. Just have to be a little careful if you have them separate like me or all your stuff will merge to the iTunes logon.

    Hello Friend

click on the settings option and then select the i Messages.

Now you will scroll down and tap on "Receive at".

In the bottom of the i Message account screen tap on caller ID.

Click on the Apple ID as your Caller ID.

Now you will close out settings and repeat on your other i OS device.

Now you will send a new i Message and check your I OS devices, they should now all be synced.
