Mac OS X 10.6.5 not supporting larger size external Hard Drives

I have connected a 4 TB Western Digital Studio ED II to my mac machine running with the OS X 10.6.5, though my machine recognizes the connected hard drive but it only shows the 2 TB of total data and the remaining is not shown. The same hard drive I have connected to macbook with lion, I can see whole data here.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say...............................

1.This is a not at all a problem.

2.For every device there will be a limiting space that it supports.

3.It depends on your processor and your motherboard.

4.As you said that you have 4 TB Hard drive.

5.Then you Mac will definitely do not support it.

I think you can understand the reason for this problem.

    All the best..........................

Re: Mac OS X 10.6.5 not supporting larger size external Hard Drives

I would like to suggest you to format the drive:- Open the Disk Utility, select external drive then -

    Partition: Options: MBR partition table
Format: MSDOS (FAT32) - for under 4GB files
Format: exFAT - for over 4GB sized files (Mac's pre OS X 10.6.5 won't have exFAT)). You are running OS X 10.6.5 so you need to upgrade your OS otherwise your Mac will not support 4 TB Hard drive.
I am sure after following these activities your external drive would be supported by Mac.Let me know.
