Re: Getting an error message "Something else is using the same IP address" while using iMac in an Network

    Dear Friend.....

In my opinion, its a very serious issue.
I think your IP address has been hacked or trace by someone else and that's why, you can't able to do anymore with this.
In my views, you need to contact with you Apple Care as they definitely provide you some alternatives for that because they have the power pack security tips and tricks to help your from saving your IP address.
This is might be the paid service from their side as per Apple Terms and Conditions.

If they can't then you need to contact your internet service provider as they have some other option.
In this case, they can also provide you another IP Address after locking the previous one if it s not recovered.

At last, if the problem still persist, then contact with Technician or some experts (professional Hacker) who can help you in this.
They have all the protection regarding hacking of your device and IP address. So i must say, these professionals are the last and final option for you.

    Have some patience,
    All the best.

Re: Getting an error message "Something else is using the same IP address" while using iMac in an Network

This problem occurs if both mac on the network has the same ip address.

===>so you have to change the ip address in any one of the mac device to fix this error.....

=====>launch apple menu--->select preferences--->click network conrol panel and click tcp/ip to change the settings...

======>you can also check the ip address by visiting the what is your ip ....

=======>you can change the ipaddress configuration to dynamic as it configures automatically during assigning.

=======>if two systems in a network has the same ip address then only one system is allowed to connect to the network......

====>to change the ip address--->select the tcp/ip and change the ip address.

    ====>finally save the settings.

Getting an error message "Something else is using the same IP address" while using iMac in an Network

We have several systems on our network now, centered on a BT Infinity broadband connection, including my iMac, two MacBooks, a couple of iPads, iPhones, BlackBerries and a Time Capsule. However, about half the time that I start up my iMac, it reports that something else is using the same IP address and I lose access to my wireless network. Printing then also fails. How can I make this network more reliable?
