Problem with Esc key in Macbook:

    • First of all turn on your Macbook
    • It is likely that the keypad may be damaged.
    • In this case use can make use of the virtual or on-screen keyboard.
    • For this click the “Start” button
    • After this navigate to “Accessories” option
    • From here choose the option “Accessibility”
    • Then select the option “On Screen Keyboard”
    • This will enable the on-screen keyboard
    • You can use this virtual keyboard till you get a new keypad

Re: Problem with Esc key in Macbook

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say.............................

1.This can be the problem o the keyboard.

2.So you try to connect another keyboard to your Mac and then try to use it.

3.If the ESC button works fine now then this is the problem of your keyboard.

4.If still you have the problem then it is the problem of your Mac Keyboard drivers.

5.So you try to open Time Machine and then perform Restore to fix this problem.

I hope by doing as i said you can solve your problem.

    All the best................................

Re: Problem with Esc key in Macbook

    Dear Friend..

I am very sorry to say but this problem only occurs when there is some hardware issue happens,
What happens when we continuously use a particular key from a passage of time, it get freeze and due to this, the connecting portion between the ESC key and hardware lost its contacts with each other,
Due to this, the hardware gets damaged and the software will still remain same. That's why you can hear the audio sound.

Now the only option is left that either you put some paper or a small particle b/w the ESC key and hardware so that it can make some contacts with each other other wise you have to replace the whole hardware part of your Mac at the Technician Center on paid bases.

This might be the only solution for your problem.
    Thanks Dear...

Re: Problem with Esc key in Macbook

    Welcome..

I think this is the hardware problem,
The ESC button hardware portion has been damaged now due to its continuous usage.
I think you should replace the whole keyboard hardware for this or try to use external mini keyboard which is an alternative for this.

    Thank you..

Re: Problem with Esc key in Macbook

    Dear Friend..

The ESC key hardware gets damaged now because generally we used this button for skip the items,
I think you need to change your whole Keypad not just a key and for this, you need to contact with your Mac Service Center.
You can't do anything in that.

    Thank you..

Problem with Esc key in Macbook

I want to know how to overcome the keyboard problem with my Macbook. The issue is the Esc key is not working at all. I can hear the beep sound when I press it but it just doesn’t work with the operation.

For eg. if I play some game and press escape it should pause the game but it doesn’t do that but I can hear the sound. I tried resetting the default keyboard settings but still same issue. Is there any way to fix this?
