Solution when Safari on Mac OS X 10.7.5 using 140% Memory?

I have recently discovered from Activity Monitor, that the Safari browser installed on my macbook is using more that 140% of memory. And no other application or software using this much memory on my machine, what might be the reason for this and how do I prevent this or reduce the memory usage. Tried installing the updates for safari but no progress.
