Spotlight not working properly in Mac OS X

Spotlight is a selection based search functionality in Mac OS X which help users to quickly locate an item. It was working fine and its results are not satisfactory. That's the reason why I want to reset it. Is there any method to do the same?

There is no need of reset. You can re-index the Spotlight quite easily with the help of terminal commands. To do the same, open the Terminal and type the following commands:
    sudo mdutil -E /
    sudo mdutil -i on /
It will ask you for Administrator password so provide the same and wait for sometime.Your problem will be solved.

    Steps to solve the issue:

=) First need to go to the dock.

=) Then open the terminal window from it.

=) Now here you type in the command sudo mdutil -E / and sudo mdutil -i on /.

=) Once this is will ask the password, and you can summit the password in it.

=) After doing this your spotlight problem is solved.

    Done.

    Hi Dear Dude ...

    How are you ??

I think in this case .. some files may not be found or Search Functionality may not work at all

You can definitely solve the Issue

And follow the below procedure ...

You need to " Rebuild the Spotlight Index " ...

From the Apple menu ... go to the System preferences option

    Then click on Spotlight

There you tap on Privacy tab

Then Drag the Folder to the list ... click OL

    That it is ...

It will definitely work properly ...

    ALL THE GOOD LUCK
