Unable to open the GIMP edited image in Mac

I have edited a photo with the help of GIMP application in my Mac which runs with Lion OS and now I am just trying to open the image normally and when I do that it gives the error message as "Image could not be opened because it is empty". Any idea why it actually shows this type of error? How can I fix it now?

    Hello Dear Friend ....

You can go to the xcf image in GIMP

    Go to the File option

Then click on " Save As "

After that Type a new file name for it and end it with the extension .jpg

    Go to the Save option

After that If the export dialogue pops up then go to the Export option

After that Change the Quality of it

    Click Save

You have to save it as an XCF . But you need to convert it to a jpg so it will open up in iphoto since iphoto doesn't support the xcf file format. You can't just change the extension to jpg - that won't work.

Here is how to do it. Open your xcf image in GIMP. Click File > Save as > type in a new file name for your image and end it with the extension .jpg - then hit Save. If the export dialog pops up, hit Export. Change the quality of the jpg by using the slider. Click Save.
