Unable to read the content of my external drive in any Mac device

I've been regularly backing up my MacBook Pro to My Book external drive, using the software that came with it. Recently, I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard and when I plugged in the external drive, Time Machine automatically popped in asking if I'd like to erase it and use it as a backup drive. After that, None of the drive's files can be read on any of my Macs. What should I do to fix this issue?

    Hello Friends,

I think that there may be some kind of the virus problem that interrupts your external drive.
So my suggestion to you is that first of all you should have to scan your device that helps in removing the virus from your device.

If the problem is not solved after the scanning your device. Then you simply have to reset your external drive.

There may also be some kind of issue related to temporary bug in your device. So turn off your device and again turn on your device.
I am sure that after doing so you will get prevented from the bug.

    Thank you.

This mean your external derive is corrupted due to presence of virus in it so if you want to read its content than first of all scan it with good quality antivirus than you will be able to see its content and also check your external drive reader devicegood luck

    Hi ..

It might some times happen due to the Virus problems that interrupt your external device

Once Scan your Device and fix the Virus and other Suspicious mal-ware problems .

If that doesn't work it out then reset your external drive . , and it might be corrupted due to the viruses .

and you can also go to the tool box and then disk explore ., then explore the External hard disk were you can

    find the files ..

    Dear Friend....

I think your external hard disk might have some drivers issue due to which you are unable to read to the disk.
But there is not to worry about this, there is a full fledged solution for the problem.

You need to format the drive as MS-DOS Fat16 or 32 to be compatible on Mac and PC.
To do this, go to Applications on your Mac > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Choose your drive and click the erase tab.
This will give you the options to reformat the drive but remember you would lose all data if you do this.

A part from that, you can also go in the Toolbox & then in Disk Explore.
Then explore the external hard disk & then u will see all the files present in it.
Here you will get all the files present in Hard Disk.

See this image, you will get all the options which i have mentioned in the answer.

I hope this definitely help you and fix this issue as well.
    Thanks Dear..

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem..........

1.I hope your External hard drive may be corrupted.

2.So you take it to the near by service center and get it fixed.

3.Or you External hard drive may be affected by any virus so you are not able to move the files from it.

4.You try to scan the External drive and clean the drive.

5.If it is not possible try to format the disc then your problem may be solved.

    Hello!

It seems from your problem that there is some kind of virus in your external drive which is blocked by your mac! hence you should first of all install a good and updated antivirus and scan your drive for all the viruses and format the entire drive even if you are loosing data (keep back up atleast).

Even after complete scan of your drive you are unable to read its content then you may have to reset iit!!

    hope you are helped!
