    Hi friend,
The solution for this is rename the hard drive so that it differs from user name. Because they should not match . It will cause bug.

Please remember user's folders name and hard drive's name cannot be the same. Try it and hope it solves your issue. If you have still problem with saving word files post here.

    Regards,
    Mahesh.

"There is an unrecoverable disk on file. The disk you're working on has media problem that prevents word from using. Try the following "Try formatting another disk. Save the document to another disk."

    Hi Guest;

    I suggest you to ;
    1.first, unistall the MS-OFFICE and re-install it
2.Even you getting problem then use another MS-OFFICE version , prefferably 2008 (which is perfect) or 2003
3.or, save the document in another format i.e. to select word 97-2004 document(.doc) which is earlier version of microsoft office for mac

whether you've tried repairing the disk permissions by going into disk utility>Macintosh HD> First Aid> Repair Disk Permissions? if not then i suggest you to do this first
If this not work then follow the following steps
    1.Quit Word.
    2.Go here: /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
And drag this file com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist to your Desktop.
    Now go back into Word.
    3. Try to edit and save the file.

Hope this will work 4 you....

Re: Unable to save the Word Documents in Mac, What might be the problem?

this problem can be solved when you-:
    1) Save your folder with the extension (.doc) on microsoft word with fully compatible mode i.e Microsoft Word 97-2003, sometimes this also create problem to the user.

    2) If the first point will not be the solution to ur problem then make sure you are saving your file with proper name i.e you are not saving the file with already existing folder name.

    3) Make sure when you save your file you must not use icons like(.<>?/!@#) etc because the file did not take this icons.
hope the above information will solve your problem

    thankyou

Try the following tips, it might help you save the word file:

    >>Rename the hard drive but remember that it should differ from user name, if both match it creates a bug!
    OR
    >>Unistall the MS-OFFICE and re-install it still if you are facing problem then try using another MS-OFFICE version like 2008 or 2004
    OR
    >>Try saving the document in another format i.e. word 97-2004 (.doc) format which may help.
    OR
    >>If stillthe problem persists then May be it is the disk that you're working on has a media problem that doesn't support word. Try to format another disk & Save the Word document to the other disk.

    Hope your problem is fixed!

Re: Unable to save the Word Documents in Mac, What might be the problem?

    hai friend...............
Turns out there was problem with the file system on the mac...

"There is an unrecoverable disk on file. The disk you're working on has media problem that prevents word from using. Try the following "Try formatting another disk. Save the document to another disk."

Is a bit of dead give away when read again once the red mist had subsided...

I found saving the offending file to USB stick the problems went away. Obiviously not a permanant solution!

Using the disk utlitfy with "verify" id bad parts of the files system...

A reboot with cmd+R opened the menu to do a repair of the disk. Took about 8 mins to complete as it compared the journal to the ondisk data...
