What does jamf process do in Mac? Is it good to kill the jamf process?

For recent past I am seeing the jamf process in Activity Monitor which runs in the background and it shows around 98% to 102% of CPU usage and yea I suspect this is the cause for my Mac to get slow down. I have Snow Leopard running in my Mac. Is it some OS related process? Can I kill the process? Can you please tell me how to do it?

I assume you have a Mac which is operated by a company IT department. Jamf is part of the Casper Suite, which is used to set up and maintain a large number of Macs within a company network.
    Same procedure on my Mac...
