    hello Dear,

iDVD supports any format from iMovie: DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD.

use any Conversion Ripping Software Like(HandBreak I will suggest as it comes with apple support and proper apple Profils).

Put your .M4V files in handBreak and It will Encode to iDVD supported formats.

then you can easily Burn them and use them.

You can also choose video quality , stream size etc,add subtitles to your video.

Download Link For HandBreak. : http://handbrake.fr/rotation.php?fil...GUI_x86_64.dmg

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say..............

Any format can be burned to the DVD from iDVD burning software.

The main reason for your problem is that the software you are using may be corrupted.
So better try to update your present software you can upgrade it by using internet.

Or try to re-install your software by uninstalling that software from Mac.

Or try install the another burning software like.

    1.Nero,

    2.Gear,

    3.VSO etc,..........

By installing these software's may help you to fix your problem.
By installing VSO you can convert the video and burn them to
    the CD/DVD.

    All the best..................

    Dear Friend..

I think you don't have the DVD burner software which help you to burn the disc in muti-format.
You need to install the DVD writer software which name is

    Burn
    http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html

After installing this software, you are able to write disc in many format such as Multi-session, DATA Disc, MP3, Video format, etc...

    Thank you..

    Dear Friend..

There are so many format that a DVD can be write.
These formats are 3 GP, Mpeg 4, HD Video, AVI, MP4, Blue Ray, etc...
But I think you are using the right software but somewhere you are lacking.
There are some of the software's which sometimes not supported in a particular format so you may need to need to change the DVD burner software,

I think you should go with :-
    M4V videos to DVD disc
    http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-author/download.htm

The format of this Burner is look like this :-

So now write that particular format with this software and trust me, you will not face any issue,

    Thank you..

    Hello dear...........
You can burn any video files using Idvd. for it convert any video to the format that Idvd supports.
For example convert the video files to .mp4 or .AVI and then try to burn it through the Idvd.

Even if it not works then there is problem in your software....
    Try another apps like.
    Nero.
    Iso burner.

    Etc.,,

Re: What is the file format to use for burning DVD in Mac?

now you are facing a problem during burning the DVD in iDVD.
It is not necessary that it is the problem related to format of file.
It may be other issue so that you are facing due that issue.
iDVD supports quick time format for video files

solve the issue related the file formate while dvd burning

it may be a problem related to file format.
so you require to convert your file in other format and then try to burn the dvd.
now you are using .m4v format and try to burn dvd.so you should convert .m4v format to .avi format which can supported by idvd.
then after you should burn the dvd in idvd

Other issue for problem while dvd burn

--> your disk not having free space enough
--> some time , problems if you are using older version for burning the dvd.so you should have to update the latest version for dvd burning
--> some time , such issue due to virus problem in Mac
--> Issue may be due to hardware problem
--> some time , dvd can not burn due to large amount of date burn at a time

if still , you not solve the problem of dvd burning ,then you try to use other software of dvd burn.

Software for dvd burn for Mac

    DVD cloner for Mac
    Burn
    Toast
    Popcoarn
    Burn again FX
    Simply burns
